Example: Rutgers Freshman with dreams of Law School?

I'm currently a First-Year Freshman at Rutgers ... though I am matriculating I plan to major in political science and or minor/double major in and anthropology. I have about a 3.3 cumm. gpa and I really want to go to a prestigious law school like Harvard or at least NYU. My plan though is to transfer to NYU or Georgetown after my sophomore year, should I stay or should I transfer. How much higher should my gpa be to realistically go to Harvard Law?! Suggestions

Law schools admissions are focused on numbers. Your GPA and LSAT score count more than anything. To have a realistic shot at going to Harvard you need at least a 3.7 or so. Anything below a 3.85 means you're going to need extremely good LSAT's.

Even if your numbers are great, it's still going to be a bit of a crapshoot. I think Harvard law only admits 4% of applicants. I have a friend who got turned down with a 3.9 GPA and a perfect LSAT score.

Transferring couldn't hurt, but it probably wouldn't help much either. It would probably give you better odds to be a standout at Rutgers than a regular guy at NYU or Georgetown.

Example: Law School...?

I graduated from H.S. in 2001, since then I have been in and out college. I have always wanted to go to law school but I didn't want to spend alot of time or money on school. I started taking classes for nursing. Well I came to my senses and decided to just focus on finishing school and then applying to law school. My problem is that now I have about 2 1/2 more years of undergrad to bring up my GPA and take the LSAT. Would it matter that I didn't do so well in the first two years of undergrad? I'm currently 24 now and I'm going back to school this coming fall. I want to take about 16 credit hours and come out with a really high GPA. Is this even possible. I'm thinking about majoring in business with a minor in finance or major in political science with a minor in criminal justice. Any thoughts on how to better my chances of getting into a good law school. I'm in NC now and if I don't pull up my GPA or get a high LSAT score, then I have to go to North Carolina Central University.

Example: Law School?

1. Can I get into law school with a 2.9 gpa from an accredited 4 year university and if so what can I expect from law school?

Example: Dream about a law firm and a school?

First, I was seeking employment in what looked like a law firm. It had those nice cherry banisters flowing with a staircase. There was an older woman who at first seemed very helpful and willing to rent me the space, then after she got one of my references, she refused to help me.

Then is shifted to what seemed to be a school. I felt a bit on the outside, as something of a teacher, and there was a circle of other teachers having a meeting. One blonde woman in particular seemed very nice to me, and she seemed popular within this school. I was also looking at something in what seemed to be the school's gift shop, and a tall, blonde man said hello, and I got shy but said hello back.

Any ideas?

Example: Law School Help Please?!?!?

I am attending University of Phoenix campus classes. I have a 3.5 gpa and my dream is to go to law school. Now, I want to go to a small law school not a "tradition" or top law school like harvard or yale nothing like that. University of Phoenix is a regionally accredited school which means i can apply to law schools after i recieve my bachelors. It might not be a school with a great reputation but it is regionally accredited. Now, my question is I am wanting to attend Jones Law School which is a small law school. Should I transfer colleges to a more known university? Or, do you think I will be ok graduating from University of Phoenix and applying to Jones Law? Do Law Schools concentrate more on your GPA and LSAT score rather than what undergrad you recieved it from? Or, how does it work what should I do? Thank you so much for your help!

Example: Law School Help Please/Ruin my chances?

It is my dream to go to Law School, and I think I probably just ruined my chances. Anyways, here is the story. I am about to be a junior in college with a 3.3 G.P.A and I have made all A's and B's since I have been in college. Well, I am about to be done with this class and I am thinking that I am going to make a F in this class. It has by far been the hardest class I have had which is no excuse to fail it but I am just worried that by me making one F is going to ruin my chances of getting into Law School. Any advice/Info?
