Example: Is there any way to tell what our dreams really mean?

I'm just curious as to know if there are any books or websites or anything that tells us what our dreams really mean.

OK; BOOKS. If you want to learn about the sexual meaning of dreams you can't do better than read Sigmund Freud: "The Interpretation of Dreams". (Penguin Books). If you want to learn about the non-sexual meaning of dreams Carl Jung is the best. His best lessons in interpreting dreams are in his “The Practice of Psychotherapy”, Bollingen Series XX, Pantheon Books Translated by R.F.C Hull. For this you may have to go to a big library or university library, find the book and photocopy the relevant section.

Freud did not believe that dreams could tell the future. He held the same position as do the sceptics of today. Beware of sceptics. They are PREJUDICED observers or just too left-brained to see the obvious staring in their face. You know, they can't see the forest for trees. Even intellectuals are prone to this failing.

Jung saw many dreams come true. However he believed that we could change a bad dream. I let you struggle with that one yourself since only experience will teach you convincingly.

BEGINNING WITHOUT BOOKS. Now if you want to start straight away with reading your dreams, you need to understand that they speak really the same language as our everyday talk. How so, you will say?! Well there is just one difference: while waking language speaks with words, the dream speaks in pictures, by means of situations; concrete situations.

To see what I mean listen to someone saying: "Today I am on cloud nine!" Do I have to interpret this absurdity for you? NO! You understand at once. But when on the other hand you dream about riding a cloud through the skies, you will wake up saying: "What nonsense is that? Will you please interpret this for me?!" The truth is that the dream and the waking language mean to say exactly the same but by means of different signals! So when you next dream of riding a cloud, or standing on a mountain top, or sitting on the roof of your house, you may look forward to feeling really HIGH!

In short, look at dreams henceforth as allegories, as parables as figures of speech. Now you may wonder where those figures of speech come from? They all come from real life situations and our dreams make thoroughly use of them. Dreams actually speak a UNIVERSAL language with minor local variations; a language that all mammals speak and understand.

Animals do not think in words, unless of course they have learnt a few of them due to their domestication. Wild animals speak a PRIMAL language understood by everyone. We too know that manner of communication. Don’t tell me that you would not know what a tiger means to tell you if he leaps towards you, mouth wide open, or a wild hare, if he runs away from you, or if your cat snuggles up to you or streaks around your legs. If you live with an animal you soon can read them. (Incidentally ‘reading’ is a Germanic word that means guessing!) Your cat can easily show you that she is hungry for instance even without meowing. She will simply position herself in front of the refrigerator and just sit looking at it. The dream speaks like that in most cases.

Dreams may of course use words too, but in the main for most dreamers it’s CAT LANGUAGE! So learn from your pet how to interpret your weird and puzzling dreams. One day you will realise that your cat would be able to interpret your dreams better than yourself because she hasn’t been spoilt by too many words that ultimately only refer back to living situations. Forgetting that our millions of figures of speech really hark back to real life scenarios is what makes us blind to the meaning of our dreams!

THE BOTTOM LINE: words kill our ability to read our dreams. So let’s get back to nature and pretend that we have no words so that our PRIMAL LANGUAGE with which we were born will return gradually!

PS: By the way; a book on ‘Body Language’ would be an absolute treasure to help you refresh your PRIMAL LANGUAGE!

Example: What does this dream mean?

Last night I had a dream I was at school. And I HATE school. And there was this big kid who shoved me. And somehow, I ended up in my drama classroom waxing the floor with this girl that is really annoying and my drama teacher (who is an awesome teacher), and we were talking about penguins and floor wax. I seriously don't understand this, so please help. I'm 14 years old, I'm a guy, I've been feeling some nostalgia lately, and I dont know what's going on...

Example: I had a dream about my stuffed animal, what does it mean?

Last night I had a very sexual dream about my stuffed penguin, Chipper. I do not know what this means and I am very afraid. But I think I love Chipper.

Example: What does it mean when ou have a dream about giving birth to animals?

Ok so last night I had a dream that I was pregnant and I was standing outside the bank and then outta no where I started going into labor..
I sat down and then I felt the baby coming out so I stood up and three penguins came out. I had just given birth to penguins.
I felt really embarrassed and didn't know what to tell people..
I'm wondering if it may have to do with that my sister is pregnant and she is about to have her baby in a week..
Does anyone know what this could mean.?

Example: Crazy dream. What does it mean?

I had an extremely weird dream. For the most part it's only weird because I rarely remember my dreams.

I was wanted to go fishing so I headed down to Sardis and went to a pond. There were a whole bunch of ducks there. I walked up to 1 and it wouldn't move, so I tried touching it. It bit me. Then a whole bunch of birds, chickens, penguins, and an old woman started attacking me. I started fighting back knocked them all off of me. When I got back up 3 huge chickens (7 foot tall) started biting me and tackling me. My friend came up (I dont know who he was but for some reason i knew he was my friend) and shot them. We then both ran to my car because we somehow knew that there were going to be more coming. So we left and headed to the hospital. We went down this back road and there were 2 guys there that go to my school. There were 3 people in front of us on bikes. The 2 guys started beating the hell out of the other 3. We tried leaving but somehow a wall appeared behind us. 1 of the guys came up and pulled my friend out of the car through the window. I stayed in the car and waited for them to get me. My friend got back in the car and told me that they said if we brought them 2 people to beat up then they would let us go. So we left and tried to get some gullable people to take. I asked 1 of my friends if he wanted to go to a party and he said sure. We started walking there and another guy came up and punched me. I woke up with my dog's *** in my face. Does this mean anything or is it just a stupidly, crazy dream?

Example: Did i have this dream because i was horny last nite , what does it mean?

i dreamt last nite that my dad i think was driving me down my best frends street to go to her house (im actually going to her house today) anyways on the corner house there were two massive emperor penguins guarding their house. they wernt like normal scrawny penguins they had distinct beautiful markings and were sorta plump.

then i saw on the house opposite my friends that there were two like beaver thingys on either side guarding the house. but once again they wernt small . they were big and grand.

and then at my friends house i think she had like several smaller beaver things guarding her house and a kunk. but it wasnt a smellly ugly skunk it was like a medium sized fluffy bllack and white cute one.

what does this all mean?

Example: Please interpret dream- animals were guarding houses?

Example: What does this dream of mine mean?

I dreamed that I saw Garfield being chased be blueberries. I followed him until he reached the White House and he told me to hurry and get OJ Simpson. I found a floating door right behind me and I opened it and found a huge box of Crayola crayons. I opened the box with a vaccuum I found on the floor and found OJ Simpson trying to kill Cap'n Crunch. I threw the vaccuum at both of them and told them both to follow me. I followed Garfield insided the White house and when he opened the oval office door, we fell in a bowl of mashed potatoes. Then I found Dick Cheney with a gun. I asked OJ Simpson to do something. He kept on killing Cap'n Crunch. I ate a blueberry and some mashed potatoes and then asked Garfield if he had some gravy. Then a penguin came above me and helped me out of the mashed potatoes and gave me some gravy, a bowl, and a spoon. We just ate mashed potatoes peacefully after that. WHAT DOES THIS DREAM MEAN? DOES IT MEAN THAT MY PET DOLPHIN ATE MORE CHEDDAR CHEESE?

Example: I dreamt about an elephant, what does it mean?

My brother had his head under water, laying on my mums lap but everyone was okay and he was talking fine, he was just sick? And then my mums boyfriend left the house. I looked out of the window and there was an elephant, sort of like an indian elephant? It was wearing jewels and stuff, as I looked out I tapped on the window and it turned its head, trying to figure out where the sound was and so I tapped again and run upstairs, where my mum was lay in bed. I told her there was an elephant outside, and she looked but it had disappeared.

There's probably a lot more to my dream but that's all I remember now haha

Example: What's the weirdest dream you've ever had?

Mine was when I was 14 I had a dream about fairies in a dystopian Las Vegas. One day the fairies went down to the lower level of the city and met some Romans, Yes actually ancient Romans, in a gun store that was also a bar. The fairies got in to an argument with the Romans and the fairies bought a load of guns and went back to their hotel. It gets a bit hazy but I think the argument was about their fairies having lunchboxes full of trail mix, Yeah. Anyway they went back to the hotel with their guns and laid them out on the table only to be betrayed by the tall raven haired fairy who was secretly working with the romans all along. They dream ended with her standing proudly next to an imperial standard as her and her commanding officer laughed over their victory. Is it weird that my dream had a plot that thick? This was quickly followed by a dream about a demented mother care or the one cantered around Mint penguin bars. What’s your oddest dream but had a relatively good plot?
